| Building a Learning Society in El Salvador |
| Conectándonos
al Futuro has concluded its participatory study to determine the best ways
to build a learning society in El Salvador: a more
flexible society, better able to take advantage of world trends in globalization and the revolution in information and communications technologies;
better able to apply knowledge to development challenges.
In mid-1999 we presented our conclusions in the form of a national strategy, pilot
projects and policy guidelines. The English-language version
of this document is available on this website. The project began in early 1998 as a result of a World Bank donation to the government of El Salvador. Its active participants included civil society associations and organizations, members of the business community, and representatives of local and national government structures. They worked together in learning circles, through specific studies, events and electronic discussions, to identify chief advantages and obstacles in specific development situations, as well as best practices worldwide. Information regarding follow-up programs to this endeavor will be available on this Website in the future. At the present time, the Asociación Infocentros represents the first institutional outcome of the study, and we suggest that interested readers visit this site. |
